Mark A. Starr, CPA, MBA
Mark has over 30 years of experience in public accounting advising individuals and businesses throughout the world on a multitude of areas such as personal taxation, business taxation, business development and planning.
His expertise in helping businesses includes providing attest services. He has diverse and substantial experience conducting financial audits of large multi-national and multi-state businesses. He also has particular specialties working with closely held health care, distribution, and service businesses.
Prior to joining with BloomSchon CPAs LLC, Mark was the Managing Partner of Starr & Starr Associates LLP for over twenty years. The firm was highly regarded in the industry with a worldwide clientele. Before starting Starr & Starr Associates LLP, he worked for a large “Big Eight” accounting firm in New York City.
His credentials also include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). Licensed as an agent for Life, Accident and Health Insurance, Mark offers clients additional expertise on estate and retirement planning issues.
A regular presenter, he provides educational programs throughout the New York area on a wide variety of topics, such as interstate income taxation, New York State’s personal “STAR” real estate tax exemption, and the impact of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) on businesses.
Mark has a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Economics and MBA (Master of Business Administration) with double concentrations in Accounting and Finance, both from the University of Rochester.
He currently resides on Long Island, New York with his wife, Debra, and enjoys sports and traveling. Active in his community, Mark is a member of The Men’s Club of Temple Or Elohim in Jericho, New York.
